St. Ephrem Flag Football is a fun, low contact activity for children of all athletic abilities. We concentrate on learning new skills and understanding the concepts of team work and sportsmanship, in a community of likeminded coaches and administrators.
We offer 4 divisions, broken down by age:
Developmental Squad; for children born between 2014– 2015.
Pee-Wee Division; for children born between 2012 – 2013.
Novice Division; for children born between 2009 – 2011.
Bantam Division; for children born between 2006 – 2008
Individual exceptions and alternate placement is possible on an individual basis if your needs are brought to the attention of the administration in advance of registration.
All 4 Divisions are co-ed, with boys & girls of the same age playing together. Though sponsored by St. Ephrem Parish, our League is open to all children regardless of any religious affiliation.
The Developmental Squad is purely for learning our game. There are no fixed teams, or formal games. Each week the children get together and are put through a series of drills and practices to learn the basics. It’s a fun family activity!
The other three Divisions (Pee-Wee, Novice & Bantam) are competitive, with games played every week against the other teams in that Division. We play a 7 game season, followed by Playoffs. Each team will play between 9 – 12 games.
All games are played in Shore Road Park (below Shore Road, down the steps at Oliver St., or down the newly rebuilt ramp near 97th street).
Games are on Saturdays, beginning the first Saturday following Labor Day and finishing the last Saturday before Thanksgiving (the only exceptions will be if there is bad weather, then we may have to change our schedule.) Each coach chooses his own practice schedule and location
At the end of the season we will have All-Star games in the 3 competitive divisions, a scrimmage for the Developmental Squad and a Coaches vs. Officials game. Trophies and Awards will be presented, on the field, for Developmental Squad players and for Champions, All-Stars, Rookies of the Year & Most Valuable Players.
Each week we have a bar-b-q on the field with a variety of foods and beverages available for all to partake (prices are considered quite low and our chief bar-b-qer is the best!
St. Ephrem Flag Football is a fun way to spend autumn Saturdays outside, playing and competing, along with your friends and family!
